Kalyn Jacobs—

Kalyn is a Cinematographer and Photographer from Chicago, IL. A graduate of Howard University’s School of Communications, she began her career running the freelance circuit in Chicago working as a production assistant on local productions such as "Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams" and  "A.P.B."; and camera operating for Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow Push Coalition on weekends. Heavily influenced by the ever-changing human emotional experience and healing,  Kalyn’s photography pulls the onlooker into the emotional world of the subject.

Now based in Brooklyn, Kalyn has worked as a Bench Technician at Abelcine for 3 years, deepening her knowledge and skill of equipment operation.

Kalyn has been a set mentor for the Bronx organization Ghetto Film School. A network which opened the doors to directing the photography for two narrative short films with Cinephilia Productions and on Digital Bodega’s “Ovals: I Don’t Want to Love Myself, Dir. Daquan Saxton. A narrative short that has been featured on Issa Rae’s Short Film Sunday, and has been racking up on awards and nominations at film festivals in 2020— in August, Kalyn was awarded Best USA Cinematography for Ovals at the New York Cinematography Awards.
